Even with Ryan Gosling’s endearing yet heartbreaking performance in Blue Valentine, its hard to imagine Firth not winning. He was so convincing, when I see him on television I now expect him to stutter. →

Some movie titles are self explanatory. Some are ridiculous. Some are even named after songs, for example The Kids Are Alright, which is just plain lazy. Blue Valentine falls under a completely different category. It’s title perfectly describes the film, while being creative at the same time, and catchy to boot. →

The Brothers Coen showed the world their idea of a western with No Country for Old Men. The film became an instant classic, but being that its set in 1980, it doesn’t quite qualify as a classic western. So when the trailer hit for the Coens’ remake of True Grit, they had my full attention. →
